The She Be Ok Community Project

Business

Written by sentinel_editor

The S.H.E. B.E. O.K. project is a non-profit organization in Niagara, founded by Paje from Honor Beauty.  The goal of the project is to provide free self-care services to female victims of abuse and bullying.

Abuse is a subject that’s near and dear to Paje’s heart.  She created this project to give back to other women in the community who are in need.  Paje believes that victims of abuse need a strong support network in order to persevere through this dark time in their lives.  So she created this project in order to curate a directory of local businesses who are also passionate about giving back to the community.  These businesses offer services that are vital to the well-being of women dealing with situations of bullying and/or abuse.

The name of the project is a unique acronym that breaks down like this:

S – Strong
H – Happy
E – Empowered

B – Beautiful
E – Empathetic

O – Original
K – Kind

Since Paje herself lived through and overcame an abusive relationship in her past, she knows first hand what the victims go through.  Paje found that her natural reaction during that dark time in her life was to shut down – to stop doing the things that made her happy and helped her heal, like yoga, doing her hair and socializing with friends.  Offering self-care services to abuse victims who are not in a mental state to think about receiving them, or who might not be able to afford them, could significantly help improve their lives.  The businesses that participate in the program are all volunteers and they offer their time and services for free to the women that the She Be Ok project supports.

Currently, there are many businesses in the project directory, covering services like classes/workshops, arts, beauty, self-care products, and spiritual/physical healing.  As the project continues to grow, more businesses are being added.  Now, the battle is to spread the word about the support that’s available to victims of abuse in our community.  What’s really admirable and amazing are the people who choose to stand up for those who can’t stand up for themselves.  You can do just that by spreading the word about this valuable project in our community!  Read more about it by clicking here.
